procrastination has gone over me. so i can now post about my little trip to Kellie’s Castle during CNY.
planned to go there during our makan trip to Penang a few month back but it did not materialize. so, since we will be going to Ipoh every CNY, why not stop over at the Castle as well?
but before that, one word to describe the trip – HOT!!!!!
with all the legends and mystery surrounding the Kellie’s Castle, who wouldn’t want to take a look of it? at least i am…
but anyways, here are the photos of the Castle….
Arriving at the Castle. boy, it is a large mansion. wouldn’t you wished that it was completed? and oh , remember to pay RM4.50 for entrance (or is it RM3.00??).
this is the side of the castle. on the right side of this photo, is actually a guard house and a horse barn.
another view from below. this mansion is 5 6 storey high, yo!
this mansion has what a house would have, kitchen, old school oven and underground wine cellar. ok, not really what a house should have. more like what a wealthy man’s house should have.
since it is an incomplete building, you’ll see quite a number of doors leading to nowhere…
i don’t really understand the design though. if all these are separate rooms, why did they install window panes in between these rooms? if you get what i mean. talk about lousy designers. hahaha…
there’s quite a number of people visiting this dilapidated mansion!
one of the common room on the ground floor. each with these type of grand windows
ok, let’s move on to the upper floor!
Do you know that Kellie’s Castle has a lift (yes, you heard it right, a lift!)? too bad it’s not functional. and worse, i did not take a photo of it!!!
long corridors on the 1st floor. this is where the bedrooms are located. and these rooms have sub-rooms (ie, dressing room). nice.
you’ll get to see some designs in the rooms too, which i did not see on the ground floor. the designs between these two floors are quite obvious in my opinion.
next stop. to the 2nd floor. the floor where i’ll be doing my laundry and having barbeque. if that is my mansion. haha!
this floor is basically an open space. can be doubled as badminton court too!
and a view overlooking the river
you might have noticed this building in the previous photos. it is located just behind of Kellie’s Castle. i’m not sure what is this building for. at first i thought i may be a Hindu Temple, but after a while it seems like a Church.
this is the 3rd floor of the mansion. located on the left side of it. we did not venture there though as it seems dangerous. i guess we would get a better view of the surroundings from there.
and this is the last photo for this post. this tree is located just outside of the mansion. take a close look. what do you see? looks like a bear leaning on the tree, right?
so, what are you waiting for? take a detour to Kellie’s Castle and look around. who knows you might find a secret stairway leading to a secret room stashed with treasures?
*the last sentence sound like and advertorial. hahaha!
