it's been exactly a week since i came back from Bangkok. I think it is time for me to blog about it before my memories of it starts to fade. so, here goes:
1st nite (09.06.09)
actually we did not really managed to do anything on that day as our flight was at 8.55pm. but!!! the flight was delayed for 30minutes without informing us earlier. AND!!! there was a further delay due to unknown reasons.
Yes, due to the ongoing H1N1 outbreak, we would have expect a lot of 'Optimus Prime' in the airport. but no, there are not much people wearing face mask. including us... although we did brought along face mask too. come to think about it, it was quite stupid not to wear it then considering how serious the outbreak is now.
so, there we go, along with 3 luggage and months of planning, to Bangkok we go!!!
the 3 bag on as shown are not 50% full at the airport as we (or more like GF) wants to shop like crazy. hence the 3 half full luggage.
reached Bangkok at around 10.30pm (Bangkok time). after going through the Immigration, baggage and all that, it was already 11.00pm. the next thing is to take a taxi to our Hostel. oh my, the driver sure drive slow, 80kph on the highway. that is damn slow...
reached our hostel at around 12am then... checked-in and went out to check on the streets. but the stall are closing already. so, we went back to sleep.
2nd day (10.06.09)
woke up early and checked-out coz we are leaving to Pattaya. after having breakfast, we took BTS to Ekamai Bus station to get a bus to Pattaya. the moment we reach the bus station, a young guy asked us where do we want to go. of course we answered Pattaya. What luck we have , the is actually a conductor for a bus to Pattaya.
without second thought, we just hopped into the bus. little did we know, it was just a beginning of the nightmare...
the bus is bloody slow and will stop at every obscure station. there will be two guys in the bus who will get down at the stops to get people in the bus. even honking at people at the roadside, hoping that they will take the bus. by that time, we know we are dead meat. what a torture.
the two guys mentioned earlier…
to make matters worse, GF wants to take a leak in the middle of the journey. oh damn... what shall we do? the bus will not wait for us. w ehave no choice but to stop at some town, which till date i have no idea where it is. after relieving herself, we have another task, which is to take another bus to Pattaya. luckily, it didn't took much trouble though. there's only one problem. big problem. the conductor doesn't speak English. but what the heck, just lead us to Pattaya first, we'll settle other problem later...
i have no idea where were we at that time…
an originally 2 and half hour journey suddenly become a torturous 4 hour hellride... reached Pattaya town, but because the conductor don't understand english, we have to stop in the middle of nowhere in the town. with only a map in hand, we asked a Caucasian. who then gave us the way to our hotel. waht follows next is journey by foot to our hotel which took around 30 minutes... fuh, TIRED!!!
spent the rest of the day walking around the Beach Street looking for food and into one of the Shopping Mall, Central Festival. wanted to swim but have to cancel our plan as the beach is not clean.
The first thing that we got in our mouth in Pattaya. some kind of dried beef noodles. very very spicy but tasted heavenly!!!
this is how they sell those fried chickens. just by walking around hoping people will buy it. there are also fried crabs and shrimps.
The view from the Beach Street overlooking Walking Street.
At night, this is where the party begins. The Walking Street is the happening place to be. clubs and girly shows beckon. of course, we did not went to the clubs/shows. just 'washing' our eyes gawking at the girls (some of them looks nice!).
One of the many clubs that you will find in Walking Street.
Apparently, Elvis is really still alive and currenlt in Pattaya!
We were told by a friend to try Timeout Ice Cream when in Pattaya. i was like, wtf??!! i thought we have it in Malaysia too? what is so special about it? nevertheless, we did search for that ice cream but to no avail, until we saw this:
oh... this Timeout. he should have told us earlier....
The ice cream was heavenly!!! Plus, the outlet was all run by girls. even the mascots below!!!!! woo hoo!!!
i should have hugged them too…
we actually walked from one end from the Beach Street to the end of the Walking street on that night. i think we may have walked around 10 - 15km that day.
At the end of the Walking Street, we were rewarded by this view.
And also this floating restaurant. If i’m not mistaken, it is called Bali Hai Restaurant.
At the end of the night, we were dead tired…
Ok, that’s it for part 1 of the trip. the second part of our trip will be posted soon.
